my children use msn all the time with their friends. we have an honesty policy if they want to use it freely, and we find that very effective. my son is 11 1/2 so as you can imagine has done searches on the net for things beyond his years but when asked he always tells us the truth. we want to protect our children but educate them at the same time without them knowing 'too much' for their present age. just ask them...you might be surprised, but it will depend on your reaction if you find something you didn't want to. don't make a big deal of it as long as they are truthful, teach them what is acceptable to your family if it's what you don't want to encourage (like bullying or whatever)

the first step would probably be best just to ask, but dont try that with techno-savvy kids, because theyll just erase the archive. If you know their primary email, i would use the forgotten password feature to retrieve it. A last option could be to watch them type it.

I don't think that's possible, if your children are using regular E-mail. However, there is a site/program that enables parents to check on their children's emails using an automated system:

http://www.safe2read.com/

I'm not sure if the program is free, though.
