Same here I was hoping that we would win 3 games but a sweep exceeded my expectations and well it really helped in the standings. Next week we have a 4 game series with the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. The division would be locked up if the Yankees swept the Red Sox again.

Anybody who says that they thought the Yankees would sweep 5 games is either lying or an idiot. We may have HOPED the Yankees would sweep, but nobody in their right mind could have predicted it. One can still be an avid fan without becoming a bone-headed idiot/liar.

By the way, speaking as a Yankee fan, there was no more demoralizing way to win. First we demolished them in the first three games (the shame/embarassment factor), then we squeaked by them in the last two games (the agony-of-defeat factor). This duo manner of sweeping - through embarassment and agony - is crushing and demoralizing. wow. great victory.

Yanks caught them at just the right time. Sox are hurting and the Yanks are healthy. Sox are in thier normal fall Swoon and Yanks are waking up. Add a trace of luck and all that equals sweep. This was a really important series. The sweep might have elimanated the Redsox from the playoffs. It all but gives the Yanks the division. More importantly it likely blew a huge gaping hole in Redsox morale.

I said that they were going to take 3 out of five. By the yankees taking all five was sweet revenge for the playoff loss. To see Curt the cry baby Schilling face, after the game he pitched(wonder why ESPN didn't show the strike zone on ? pitches) and Ortiz telling the reporters u think the yankees would let us win one game. No way big Poop Poop. Great weekend series. This weekend will know be remember as the new Boston Massacure

Of course. Not only were we the better team, but they had injuries to go along with it. The Sox lost Trot Nixon and Jason Varitek and the Yankees got players back. However, we were the team to beat when the race even started.

It really depended upon Friday's day night doubleheader. Once they swept that a sweep of the series wasn't out of the question. Shilling's game was key but after they pulled him the Red Sux leaky bullpen gave it up. Randy Pitched a gem in game three as well as Lidle in game 5. A good old fashioned ************.

Mike Timlin said it best hahah..."the pitching is doing better than the hitting" Really Mike?? Starters era 8+, bullpen era 11+...good call there Timlin. Beckett sucked, Javy Lopez sucked, Choko Crisp sucked....Mike Lowell has sucked since the all star break, the bull pen sucks, Snyder is in the big leagues lol.....I didnt think we would take all 5, but after this series, I can see why the Royals swept the pathetic Sawks too!
