it's definitely FICTION. and anyone who says, "oh they have different bone structure so they can't swim," or "oh they are natural runners" is just plain racist. and just because you haven't seen a black participate in a swimming event on fear factor doesn't mean anything.

this year's fastest 50 meter sprint time is held by an african american. there was also an african american ncaa div 1 swimming champion last year. indeed, while swimming has often been characterized as a "white" sport, the last decade had seen an explosion of minority swimmers at all levels. Indeed, on some collegiate level teams, up to half the team may be minorites. many have come from china, japan, brazil, argentina, panama, and the carribean. indeed, Tim Duncan the NBA star, was an accomplished swimmer in his youth. the singer Sean Paul also played on the Jamaican Water Polo team, before he became famous.

Yes I am way in front of you.I asked all this last week. I asked a very rare and very genuine question why there are no black swimmers or divers. I had to pull the question after an hour because of the abuse.I still have one user blocked. I posted it in the Swimming category where I thought I would get a sensible answer to a sensible question. Some of the replies were too silly for words and reflects the manners of the left. I hope you do better. EDIT The one and only answer I got that answered my question told me frankly that black people simply cant swim, ironically its because of the size of their bodies which is what makes them so superb at athletics Its not racist to study seriously the differences in the cultures..

It's all relative. I'd agree that there are fewer black swimmers compared to white, which would suggest that, but it's too unclear to come to a conclusion.

You can't possibly be serious-- okay, but if you are, then just keep in mind that it's possible swimming is just a more popular sport with the white community.

I bet before the Williams sisters came into play, you would have asked whether white tennis players are better than black tennis players.

I don't like my answer but, we bred black people for strength back during the days of slavery. Strength involves muscle which doesn't float, fat floats. So, I would guess that overall black people wouldn't be able to swim as well as whites. There are always exceptions and probably now that we have done away w/ slavery it should even out, with time and generations.

Fiction. It's only a question of skill and opportunity. I had a black friend while I was growing up; he was as good a surfer, boogie boarder, swimmer, freediver, spearfisherman, poloist, lifesaver etc as any of our crew.

They might be better swimmers, they are well represented in sports that require physical agility and strength. I think, though, that a lot of blacks do not get the chance to swim because it is less of a city sport, and more of a suburban sport.

On Fear Factor I've never seen a black person win a challenge where swimming was involved.
