I just spilled water on my new acer laptop and then turned it on without realising. It just beeped alot and I turned it back off. I've got a standard one-year warranty from an independent dealer. Shall I confess or just feign ignorance and ask them to fix it?

confess because i done the exact same thing and i opened my laptop up and dried every single last drop that i could see and then when i sent it back for repair they knew that there had been water in there because the mother board had been fried/burnt out and water is the only thing that will do that. and i think that you have done the same thing what ever you do do not keep trying to turn it on because if water gets into the wrong places it could electricute you which is what they told me .
good luck with your problem.
thanks

Turn the computer up side down and put it in the air cupboard to dry for a day - you might be lucky.

Let this be a lesson - never drink when your on a computer.

if its just water - leave it or a day or so to dry out completely and theres a fair chance it will be fine.
