No, just because you are related to someone it does not make him/her qualified for any job.

It is a terrible form of corruption.

Nepotism: Nepotism means favoring relatives or personal friends because of their relationship rather than because of their abilities. The word is generally used derogatorily.

I can understand favouring relatives as you may wish to keep the the company in the family.
I can also understand favouring your friends as it is good to work with and reward people you like.

However, I would also ensure that any promotions were gained on merit and not just because I like or am related to the person.

If you are a manager that only reward thier friends/relatives regardless of how incompetent they may be: at worst your business would probably fail, and at best you would have a lot of workers with low moral.

If the person is qualified, and not directly working for the relative where will get preferential treatment.
