You probably have 256+512, that's 758, although less is displayed - taken up for "essential functions" I guess.

I'm sure the computer will have more slots into which you could put in RAM chips - won't be an expensive business, especially if you get your bf to put them in.

I'm afraid you need more than just a new graphics card. You're going to need a better processor as well. It doesn't sound like you are the type who would build a new system, in which case I would have suggested you get a new motherboard and processor but assuming you do not wish to put together your own system, you have no other choice but to get a new computer, in fact any new computer will do the job*

*with the new computer you will also have to get a graphics card, at a minimum get a Geforce 7300GT but step up to the 7600GT if you can, the choice in that matter is yours, based on your budget.

This one would do it for $424, http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/eMachines-Desktop-PC-T6534-/sem/rpsm/oid/153445/catOid/-12962/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do and add in $80 for the graphics card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141036 or step up to the 7600GT for $140 (after rebates). If you do not wish to install it yourself be prepared to ante up for a $40 to $60 installation fee (or find a friend who will do it for free).

Overclocking means taking the processor speed beyond its manufacturer limits, some processors do good with this, others are poor at it. My guess is you are using something in the Pentium III line, very bad overclockers, I do not recommend overclocking PIII or PIV processor, the new Pentium D and Core 2 lines are another story entirely. Most modern AMD processors also overclock very well. But it's not just about the speed of the processor, it's also what SSE instructions it can accept, there are more but that's just an example. I would not overclock your processor at all, unless you got water or some type of liquid cooling which again, would cost money and may end up costing you more than a new PC if you needed someone to install it for you.

If the speed is only 735, i am doubtfull you will find any good hardware updates for your motherboard. Therefore I advise you to save up for a new PC, and dont throw away money on updating the inferior hardware. You can get a good budget pc for around £299, so shop around.

"Or do you guys know how I can have a video card that is T&L capable?"

You will need a graphics card that supports it, 5th generation ge-force cards and above should support it, again, shop around, the majority of new pc's support it nowadays.

735 Mhz? You won't be able run very much on such a lower end system. You're probably going to have to shell out the bucks to get a new one. However, you can get complete systems rather cheaply now a days. And they really aren't all that bad. Go to like Future shop, circuit city, whatever and you can pick up something decent and not pay an arm and a leg

I would suggest just getting a new PC. Or, you go the whole mile, and just get a Mac! Oh, and if you are that desperate, you can always come over to my house to play the Sims 2, on MY Mac! hehe...

You can run PC3200 memory on your desktop and it will run at 333mhz. That is, unless your motherboard supports PC3200 memory and will run it at the 400 MHZ that it should. There is no need to update your CPU/FSB after installing this memory.

Overclocking isn't the best way to increase the speed. Since you are willing to increase the speed, just overclock up to 850GHz. Don't overclock more than that. And increase the RAM. that's the best way to do it.

upgrade ur PC to a better clock speed one .
overcloking means increasing the processor speed marginally using either bios setup [increasing multipliers ] or third party tools like CPUCool etc...

and u can marry me if u wish so!!!!
