I know nothing about internet connections but I'm moving house and just want to be able to get on the internet, not to fussed about having a phone line but do I have to pay for a phone line in order to recieve internet?

How does this work? What companies should I approach? Who's the cheapest?

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes try NTL is cable without having a phone.

You will need a phone line for the Internet and consequently you will need to pay line rental. The cheapest line rental that I know at the moment is "Toucan" .If you do not use your phone line to make calls then you not have to pay for calls.

I fyou've got NTL or cable in your area you should just be able to have the net but some may require you to have a live line to operate for your modem.

Sky TV are launching a free broadband service for their customers so if you are planning to get sky tv you could well investigate that :)
