Light is faster, because it's light and it travels about 186,000 miles per second. Sound travels at different speeds depending on the density of the material it's travelling through. Sound will not travel through a vacuum as light will. Sound travels through air at sea level at 1060 feet per second. You can tell the difference between the speed of light and the speed of sound by watching and listening to lightning and thunder. You always see the lightning first, then you hear the thunder.

Light is faster since it is photons. photons move at a constant speed and can move through a vacuum or through gasses, liquids, or solids at the same speed. Sound on the other hand is the vibration of molecules and requires molecules in order to continue. Sound works by molecules vibrating causing nearby molecules to vibrate, so the speed of sound varies with the density of the medium the sound is traveling in. Since sound requires the vibration to be imparted, this will take time causing sound to be much slower then light.

Light is faster than sound. For example in a lightning storm, you see the flash of light first then you hear the thunder sound reach several seconds later depending upon your distance from the lightning strike.

Light is faster than sound. Sound speed is 300 m/s but light speed is 3,00,000 m/s. The reason is light has higher frequency than sound and the light need no medium.

both light and sound are simply methods of tranfering energy from one place to another.

Sound does this by transfering the motion of one molecule to another... (rather it happens in waves, but you get the idea)

So the speed of sound is defined by how fast one molecule can transfer its energy from one to another. Thus we see a mechanical transfer that is going to be slow...

Light on the other hand is (sorry if this is a weird explanation) a moving electric feild that causes a moving magnetic feild that causes a moving electric field that causes ...

So the enengy is transfered from the electric feild to the magnetic feild ... then the enengy in the magnetic feild is transferd to an electric feild.

Now if the electric feild was not moving, it would not cause magnetic field, and then that thing would not be light.(it is also not possible)(we think)

But the electric field does move, and it will move through free space. Just like sound requires molecules to define its speed, so does light. But in this case it is a constant called the "electrical permittivitty of free space". But the thing is that a moving electric feild causes the creation of a magnetic feild, thus now it is a magnetec feild, and this feild moves through space acording to the "magnetic permability of free space".

the rate at which this ossolation of magnetic to electric happens defines how fast light moves(it is inversly proportional). And because these numbers are very small, the speed of light is very large.

Light is faster then sound. Sound travels at 330 meters/ sec while light travels at 3,00,000 meters/sec. That is why while lighting we see light first and then we hear the roar.

Interestingly this dependes upon medium as well. Like light being very high in frequency and very small in wave length can not pass through most of solid mediums, but sound being low frequency and high in wave length can pass through most of solid mediams. Sound can not travel in vacuum but light can travel in vacuum.

What do u mean by WHY It is faster and hence there isn't a point to argue out.....There is no explaination as to why light is faster than sound .....

light travels faster than sound.Velocity of light is greater than sound and light travel in any medium. Light travel in vaccum but not sound.Fastness of anything depends on its velocity. Velocity of light is greater than sound that's why light can travel faster than sound.

Light is faster. It travels through void or material media in the form of Electromagnetic Wave whose velocity is determined as square root of the product of the magnetic permeability and the electric permittivity of the medium. Whereas sound travels through material media only whose speed is determined as the square root of the quotient of modulus of elasticity by density of the medium.
