sex addict-------too much testosterone in their system
I guess you talking about a guy
I don't know too many women that are sex addicts

Too much testosterone in women make them very muscular and have lots of acne........my daughter has that------she probably got that from her father the sex addict------I'm sure he had too much testosterone in his system -------guys can be violent if they have too much testosterone (I just proved my point). He did not have medical support for his high level of testosterone like my daughter does

Now sexual perverts are a different story-----they COULD of been abused as a child making them abuse others as adults, someone who wants control over their victims---------Sometimes perverts have no reason why they are the way they are
I know guys who WERE molested as children who are NOT perverts, and guys that have NOT been abused and they ARE perverts.........something but no one knows why

That depends on how you interpret deviant... From a simple understanding, anything that is not male-female missionary position could be considered deviant. However, if you aim alittle broader, and include anything that is socially acceptable, then deviance becomes a little more narrow. And then you have to take it even further toward the social context it is viewed. Few things fall into the deviant category then - pedophilia, incest, bestiality, coprophilia and necrophilia are some of the things that are in the ultimate taboo range, as defined by current mores.

If we lived in a culture where, say, sex with pre teens was viewed as sopially acceptable, then pedophilia wouldn't be a crime, or even morally wrong.

But, as to a cause, I don't think anyone knows. I suspect it is a "cross wiring" in the "love" and pleasure centers in the brain. I think it is probably (nature) hereditary, or at least genetic, and is not related to nurture.

As for being a 'deviant', the way I've heard it put is that the person possibly has suffered some sort of related abuse early in life and tries to associate positive emotional and physical stimulation with said event. For instance, possibly a person who was sexually abused by an adult will convince themselves that it was done out of love, that this is the way an adult expresses love to a child, and thus becomes a pedophile.

The addiction part may have several roots. Many people have 'addictive personalities'. These people might find it hard to control impulsive behavior when it comes to many aspects of life. I have these tendencies and sex seems to be the way I act on it. It has intruded on my life more than it should have and my only regrets in life have to do with sex.

I'd say the background to such a person would consist of having his or her every little sexual desire met every time to where at one point doing the usual thing later became unsatisfying so they turned to higher levels of pleasure, making them want more and more till finally they saw themselves having tried everything and and still having it not feel like it is enough to satisfy their needs. That's where it comes from. So be careful what you ask for, you might just get it and you like it so much that it may become an addiction.

Usually, they stem from childhood trauma. Premature sexualization of a minor often leads to questioning one's sexual identity later in life. Like, if a young boy is molested, he will probably (though not always) grow up to either sexualy abuse people (not necessarily a molestor) or he will try to recreate situations where he is being abused. When young girls are molested they usually grow up to be either totaly repressed sexually or total sluts. I'm not talking about simply being promiscuous, I mean the type of girls who'll suck guys off in the ally behind a bar after he buys them a couple drinks.

This is not true in all cases, mind you. Statistics have shown that 60% of the people who've been abused in some way will go on to become abusers. I'm not sure what the percentage is of people who continue to be abusees is but I know it's much higher than the percentage of people who turn out "normal." Those that get therapy usually turn out "normal." When I say "normal" I mean the standard. Not that that's necessarily good or bad.

The one commonality amongst sex deviates (including addicts) seems to be the belief they themselves were deprived of the sexual instinct as an adolescent/young adult, or became sexualy active at a very tender age. In other words, sexual polemics.

I know two individuals like this. Both come from an alcoholic father. I imagine this is their need to feel like a man, when they grew up watching the pain that their father caused. This is their "security".

Inability to deal with traumatic episodes during childhood and puberty...the mind focuses on sexual behaviors as a means to gratification and self acceptance...also chemical imbalances related to hormonal levels.

An addiction to pleasure and the arousal that one feels is my guess. I don't think I'm an addict but I'll never get enough!

Before you get a proper answer you should define 'deviant'.
Sex addiction may, or may not, be considered deviant.
