Gosport! And the whole Portsmouth area.

Views from Gosport coast line of the I.O.W. are great.

Plus because of Portsdown Hill the whole area has it's own weather system and is sheltered from the worst of the weather on all fronts.

From Portsmouth Hard train station you can catch a train to London that will get you there in one hour.

Everyday I have to drive to work across Portsdown hill, with fantastic views of Portsmouth harbour and the I.O.W.

(Er, Titchfield isn't that landlocked?)

C.J was almost spot on, but lowestoft is quite a stony beach, for the best golden sands you need to head about 6 miles north of lowestoft into Norfolk where you will find Gorleston Beach, when the sun is out its the best.

If you're willing to move "up north" I highly recommend the north wales coast. You get the best of both worlds, costal resorts and regions with fantastic views, dramatic mountains and lots cheaper than the south.

I live in Westward Ho! North Devon. Love it, but the downside is it's far too tempting to hit the bars round the beach on sunny days when you really can't afford to spend the money. Just think it's something to consider if your thinking of moving to the coast.

Titchfield near Fareham is very pleasant.
But check if the chicken processing plant is still there - there used to be a terrible pong from time to time.

I say the Mediterranean in general, with its pines, its crystal clear calm water and its unique bright white light. The Greek Islands, I agree... Crete maybe. Crete is a wonderful place.

Cornwall is fantastic, but the down side is it's very very busy in the summer and very isolated and cold in the winter.. would love to live there.

Anywhere on the Keweenaw Peninsula is fabulous (if you're including the pristine "inland sea" of Lake Superior in your question)! :)
