Why not?

My mom took a philosophy class in college, and it was open-book. The test was passed out and there was one question...."Why?"

Everyone wrote volumes and volumes, citing various sources and creating various philosophical arguments. The answer was a simple "Why not". They were too smart for their own good (at least for the exam).
