its not true that Tagalog ang "hambog"
sometimes if they are telling story some visayan found it "hambog" which is just natural in Tagalog and visayan simply just sometimes ignorant..
and sometimes Tagalog being annoyed they have sometimes an accent that is not pleasing to the ears and there are some kind of being "chismosa"....
but i believe theres no discrimination because its different on every people liike if your educated and decent..so no one will look down on you...
and Tagalog stop being accent-laugher (but i know sometimes cant help it)
and Visayas try to talk slowly and change your a accent a little
we are all Filipinos!!!

Yes, that's true.
Firstly, during Pre-Historic times, there was no Filipino or even Philippines. Everyone was independent. So back then, Tagalogs are different from Visayans as Malays are to Taiwanese aborigines. Cebu then was a big kingdom, way more famous than Manila was. When Legazpi came, he proclaimed the city of Manila as the capital, stripping Cebu of its' former status. He also authorized the widespread teaching of Catholicism and SPanish to the Tagalogs. Eventually, Spanish influence was so deep that about 35% of the Tagalogs are mixed Spanish-Tagalog. Also, since they live near the capital, the Tagalogs benefited more. WHile Manila flourished, Cebu was kept down in the dumps.
So as the story goes, the Tagalogs, being the primary intercessor between the Spanish and the other Filipino tribes (being natives of Manila), technically became the 'primary' Filipino group, while the Cebuanos were reduced to second-class status, relegated to the status of 'probinsyano' (country people).
On Quezon's administration, he ordeered that Tagalog become the national language. The Cebuanos refused and said that they would rather have English than Tagalog as the national language. This continued until 1987, when the Aquino government eventually declared 13 other languages (including Cebuano) as official languages of the Republic.
Until today, the Cebuanos sing the National Anthem in Cebuano (and not in Filipino), and there remains a nationalistic force that seeks to create a Visayan state within the Philippines. Some Cebuanos even maintain that "Manila should be expelled from the Philippines due to its imperialistic stance".
The Cebuano Tagalog rivalry will be here to stay for along period of time.

i think is not fair to generalize. i also think that often, it is not geographical. i do not see any discrimination or tagalogs having problems against other people just because they are bisaya or vice versa. i suppose, a person will not like another person not simply based on his geographic origin, in this case bisaya not liking a tagalog or vice versa.

They're an amazing group. I really have very few complaints about them. Only thing I will say is that The Love Below was far too experimental and Andre should have come up with some better lyrics for it. Speakerboxxx was great though, and it saved the album. Idlewild sucked, but it was part of a movie that I've never seen, so I really can't judge them based on that.

know what, i'm a bisaya..im okay if i stick to tagalogs but not too often and i don't trust them as in 100%!! coz simply, we bisaya(gahi pgka-litok) see and somewhat stereotype you tagalogs as hambog.
just like the people in ateneo, i just thought of they "discriminate" those outside-manila-ateneos especially the ateneo here in cagayan de oro city..it's so frustrating actually. and ironically we idolize most of the stars there mostly the cute ateneo blue eagles....

Filipinos are geographically separated by regions, islands and island groups. This has led them to develop what is called "regionalistic mentality." People who are steeped in this kind of mentality tend to stick to their "ka-probinsya" (people who live in the same provice/region as they do). If they have a choice, they will not work/stay with/trust people who do not come from the same region as they do. This is what I believe is behind this Visayan vs. Tagalog mentality, which should not really be the case.

no there isn't wrong with it, anywhere in the world has the same way of behavior. its not about being bisaya or being tagalog. they simply has different level of living status, bisayan's thought tagalog's complains too much about things that bisayan's considered pleasures. tagalog's thought bisaya's pleasures are old ways for them. try to compare yourself to people in england. what do you complain? what about people in the states? name any places that above your living status, i bet you always got complains

When you're in the states and work with "tagalog" people, they're cool to be with. They help other pinoys pero kung mag-istoryahanay na gani, mang-gawas na ang ilang pagkahambog. So, sometimes dili jud ingon nga ang mga "bisaya" don't like them. It's just when it comes to talks. :)

As what I've known -
- Tagalogs' when they ask this: "Taga-sa'ng probinsya ka ba?"
y, lahat naman tayo taga-probinsiya, ah? = that's the reaction of the visayan's for example in particular... Discrimination may also be one of the terms,, it's just depending on those people who are very affected on this matter...
