Easy to say something noble, hard to know whether when the time came I could actually do it...so I'll share the biggest sacrifice I've made for a friend.

Once, my dearest friend made a terrible mistake and was ostracized by work friends and friends outside the workplace. To support her was to face the the wrath and rejection she was experiencing, which was cruel and isolating. I didn't like what she had done, but I love my friend and couldn't stand to see her suffer. So I stood by her publicly and faced the same abusive behavior she had.

It was an awkward and painful six months, but we had each other and I have never felt more certain that I had made the right decision to lend a shoulder to someone I dearly loved, at a time when she most needed it. Regardless of her actions, she was my friend and it was rewarding to know I chose loyalty over comfort.

Depends on the level of friendship really.

There are some friends I would gladly give up my life for if it would save them.

There are some I would bail out of jail at 4 am in the morning, no questions asked.

There are some I would give up a kidney or some bone marrow if it would help them.

There are some that I would share my home with.

Sacrifice is a relative term where friends are concerned, because it's not a sacrifice if it's given out of love for a friend.

The greatest sacrifice i can make to for a friend is giving up my my treasures and wealth if it is a male friend but I can make a sacrifice of my life for a girl that am in love with just for her to live.

I would have to say ,
there is nobody in my life that I would die for. What purpose would that have?
I am very fond of my nuts, left or right,so I am keeping them too.
But if I could donate an organ I could live without,or blood to save such a friend, could help out with money or shelter, yes I am there for you.Include my utmost adoration and love, combined with time and caring...I think I am a good friend.
I believe that when someone says they would die for a friend ,they have not thought about the consequences....and if the time to die came, they would bail out.

That is a tough one to answer.
I would like to think I would be there for them in their need whatever it may be. Do what I can, help where I can, support where I can.
What more is there to give? Giving your life is not realistic.
If it was in a war where you helped your buddy and you lost your life, I suppose that is not something you consciously decide anyways.
If you were helping a drowning person, another scenario.
There are so many different possibilities it could never be answered simply.

No greater love has a man than this: that he lay down his life for a friend. That was from J.C., the son of God. And he did it. I'm very glad to be his friend. I don't know if I could do that for a friend, as I've never been tested that way. But I am pretty sure I would do it for one of my children. I hope to God that I would make the right decision on that one.

I'd give my left nut to help a friend if I had to...

in other words, no sacrifice is too much for a friend...

and most of my friends feel the same about me...

well, that is the "guy" friends...

women don't have nuts to sacrific...LOL

But I'm sure you gals have some sort of similar saying too...

Most of the time I draw the line at three fatted calves, a brace of goats and a pheasant, though in the case of uber-special friends, I'm willing to throw in a donkey and a couple of chickens.

If I was male I'd give my left nut to my best friend too (or my right - I'd let her choose - THAT's sacrifice.!!) But with both of us being female and not really needing nuts, I'll have to settle for a kidney!!!

Man, you've gotten a ton of first rate answers.
And I'd like nothing better than to regale you with stories of my altruism, but sadly I can't.
I did however, once, a long time ago, Let a friend call "shotgun" on a road trip. Does that count?
