There are all sorts of technical schools turning out people with 2 year Associates Degrees in IT Admin. So they tend to earn much less than somebody with a 4 year BS in Computer Science.

It's all supply and demand.

I think a Software Engineer earns more because they deal with computers and software all at once. A Software Engineer also works at a wonderful office as well.

That depends on the complexity of tasks in a company. But usually Software Engineers gets more. But if your company have a big network, System Administrator will be getting much.
