Yes, it is a shame. He was just starting to come on in his career after being overshadowed by tagteam partners.

No, I don't think it's a shame for JBL to retire. Although I don't like the guy, but after many years that he wrestled in the ring, I don't hink he has to be ashamed of himself for all of his acomplishments he made in the ring & since a back injury has now forced him to retire, he has other things going on right now, including a radio show & being the Color Analyst on Smackdown, plus, recently becoming an investment banker in New York City.

It's always a shame to see an athlete have to retire because of injury. JBL will be missed. I never really cared for him except when he was in the APA. Gotta love the closeline from hell. Get well JBL. We will miss ya!

I can't say it's a shame...I give the man props where they're due...reliable worker, always gave the best he had, which is really what counts...frankly I'm not sure how many good years he really had left...yeah, I'll miss his ring work, and he was as good as any at giving a push to another wrestler (if it got tacky at times...I give you Eddie and Rey as perfect examples)...but he's got other interests, and I like him as an announcer...got a little ways to go, but he's got that cross between ring knowledge and sarcastic humor that always works well...who knows, maybe down the road apiece he can make a comeback (hell, look at HBK)...not bowing down to a god, but he's certainly got my respect...always had and always will...

I mean it's a shame, but I wasn't a fan of his work for sure. He can still work the mic, and being an announcer probably prolongs his career greatly anyway.

its funny how he became WWE champion... origianlly HHH was going to SD and he wood have the JBL push... But H didnt want to go and stayed on RAW... Since SD didnt have any other heel they gave the ball to JNL... who by the way is great as an announcer...
Loved to hate him as WWE champ... but i do feel it was a bit too long...

well he was a damn good wrestler who did anything to win u can say. though i didnt like his attitude i did respect his prowess in the ring. he was one of those wrestlers whose tag team careers really ruined his singles matches. he would have excelled if he had been a singles player. anyway its good that he's there to provide commentary. and he's not doin a bad job

I don't care about that egotistical fool at all! It's his overinflated Texas-sized ego that caused his career-ending back injury! And I have no respect for him, either!!!
