I believe that every man - gay or straight - depend on women for many different things. All men were once boys so they obviously had a mother who provided motherly care and support. Gay men also have siblings that are women and offer great support as well. And let's not mention all gay boys have "f.a.g hags" - straight women that thrive off gay men - who make such great friends.
But, I still don't think that gay men necessarily need a women friend. That's like asking a straight male if he needed another straight male friend in his life. You don't need them, but everyone needs friends.
Gay men, however, do not need women sexually. Perhaps many have thought by being seen with one or sleeping with one or even marrying and having children with one was a need that would erase the gayness from their lives but I'm sure they realized it couldn't happen.

Ive met a few gay men that didn't need women in their lives, but very few women who didn't appreciate gay men in their lives.
Gay men help women gauge just how far down the food chain the women will date ...and girls with gay male friends always end up with nicer men in the long run.

Do gay men NEED women in thier lives? I don't think its a need. They are more comfortable around them and vise versa. Most women love being around gay men. Neither of them have to worry about sexual tension between the two and yet they have so much more in common. So do answer your questions, do gay men need women, no, do we WANT (not in the sexual way) them, YES. Who better to be friends with, without having to worry about most of the drama!

Some of us needs females yes, like a mother, or friends that you can share your life with and not deal with the typical gay men mentality, which is oftentimes very nice.

Need? Well considering they are half of the population and have jobs that are part of services that "Gay" men use.....
They have mothers, sisters, ect....
Do they "Have" to involve them in their lives? Yeah, you work with them and interact with them every day. Are they part of "my" home life? Other than occasionally hearing from our mothers and sisters, no.

Human beings need others in their life. It is a proven fact. So I don't see why they wouldn't need a woman in their life.

Just to cover up the fact that they are gay. That's the only reason that I've ever heard.
