Titanium is not quoted on the many Metal Exchanges, however Titanium prices are historically relatively stable, with demand remaining depressed and sponge prices showing very little movement in 2001 and 2002. However, if there is no significant reduction in recovery costs and scrap remains scarce, average annual sponge prices could reach $8.50/kg by 2008. Similarly, scrap shortages and strengthening demand resulted in rapidly rising prices for ferrotitanium in the first half of 2004, from around $4/kg in August 2003 to over $11/kg.
