How can a book be the word of God, someone wrote it. God by any name any religion is what you inside perceived it to be.

I don't think the Bible is the word of God. I think people made an account of what happened in history to God prophets, etc, but the words are not His. It changed over the years and parts of it are untrue and that's why there are so many different versions of the Bible. The ten commandments are the words of God though. The stories in the bible are generally true, they are not 'mythology'. The reason babylon is present in so many of them is because the prophets all came from around the middle-east.
The Koran did no 'borrowing'. Jews, Christians and Muslims have the same God and share similar beliefs. The Koran contains a lot of history which is the same as the the jewish scriptures because it is the word of God giving an account of what happened in history regarding all the prophets starting from Adam. It has remained completely unaltered since it was received from God around 1500 years ago.

I believe anything that was written by people is just simply an attempt to answer questions of the unknown. In the days of ancient scripture mankind was living a different life. The earth was thought to be flat and the desert sun was hot. Anyone that could write was considered a scholar and so the people would ask about life and so the scholars wrote. There was much suffering and oppression and people needed a savior so they created one. It is an attempt by man to make himself a god!
If you look at cultures like the Iraqis and Iranians and others imagine that these are the people that wrote all of it.
Why would God who created all life have a need to inspire someone to write down the words of God?

My understanding is that the Bible is a collection of stories, related to the prophets, but written by man. The New Testament is a testament of Jesus's life and teachings, written by his disciples after his death. Human memory is suspect and each person observing an event will see it in a different way and relate it in a different way and things are often added, or omitted, with no intent. The content of the Quran, however, was passed to Mohammed from God over a period of time and was transcribed directly. Arabic is a language that is not easily open to misinterpretation, which is why the original Quran was written in Arabic.

Yes, undoubtedly and indisputably. The Bible is the Word of God. Even if the world does not believe in it, it is the Truth. Before we actually make any assumptions it is mandatory that we get the facts right. Its better that we read the scriptures before concluding on any point. The world may come up with n number of ways to disprove the Truth. And man's understanding is like rags for God. We can never unravel the mysteries of God and His plans.
Believe and be saved from eternal damnation. Frankly, God gave us freewill...freedom to choose our life's course or destiny. He never forces us to love Him or follow Him. It is a choice. But believe me; He loved us first before we can actually love Him. He loved us so much that "He gave His only begotten Son, whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." Well we are His creation and He will never want to lose us for any reason. He still loves us in spite of our follies, mistakes, disobedience, hatred, and lust of the world, deceitfulness of riches, gluttony, anger, disrespect and "sin" above all.

No. it is a confabulation, as you say, of a variety of sources, mostly Babylonian bronze-age mythology.
The New testament is even murkier, heavily edited over the centuries to suit the political needs of a succession of dominant groups within the Xtian community.
As literature, it has some great passages, and as historical curiosity it is fascinating, but that's it. As a moral guide, I prefer the Harry Potter books.

NO.
the bible was written 40 years after the death of Jesus!
I can't remember what I was doing last week, so how people can remember exactly what happened 40 years ago without embelishing the truth amazes me.
Besides a lot of Christian ideologies are stolen from Paganism, in fact several bible stories are very similar to their Pagan counterparts.
Which came first?

No the Bible was written by Man, and covers things that happened or were supposed to have happened.
References to communications direct from "god" ie to Noah or Moses for example cannot be validated, thus they can at best only be a "belief", at the end of the day the book was produced by "Man"

Absolutely, yes, the Bible is the Word of God. Check out some books by Josh McDowell--he explains it all really well. He's a good read, and you sound pretty intellectual--you'll definitely be able to follow the logic.

For the umpteenth time - YES.
No Biblical stories are derived from Babylonian mythology. Any documented proof for the same?

No its the word of man because god only exists in the minds of man. It is a fictional story written by man.
