if you know he is gay aswell just ask him out for a drink or coffee or something after a few hours of conversation you will both loosen up and then it will be easier to tell

what like sare you refering to and "interested'?
just be yourself and let things be, it'll just come. drop a hint or gesture...whatever it maybe and see the reaction...as simple as that.
if you're desperate to know, do it directly...its faster and more direct. but be prepared to be rejected?
