Because...what you do is put your small valuables in the can, put the lid on and put it back in the cabinet. Just don't forget at 3am after a night out, and munch down on your Great Grandma's stock certificates in MicroSoft.

That's why it 'pops' If it wasn't resealable it would not have the sound.
So in this case you would call it a 'pop-able' lid and not resealable.

Cos in case you depart the foil on then hide with the plastic lid you may nip to the john or make a drink and your boyfriend does not observe that they are open and nick all of them whilst your long previous.
