I was a Goth back in the 80s (I suppose I still am!) and wore black from when I was 16 until about 24. I then decided that I would still remain the same person even if I wore colourful clothes, so changed.
I have alot of respect for people who decide not to conform with anyone else as I have taken that road for a long time. The only thing that I would add is that in doing so, it invites ridicule and scorn and humour from those less brave people who can't find their own path.
Be yourself

I honestly have no problem with it, some of my friends wear balck.
But I sometimes wonder why those who wear black don't try different colours or something else lighter when the weather gets hot and sweaty. I've had times when I've nealy melted and yet some Goths still wear full leather jackets.
No offence but don't you get hot? How do you go on when the weather plots against you?

I wear a lot of black. I'm not goth or emo, I'm just too lazy to try and decide on colors. I do wear some bright colors with my black sometimes tho. You might look at what you wear and your makeup and stuff if you want to fit into mainstream society. It's entirely up to you if you want to or not. Most people are ok with a lot of black, if you wear all black leather or lace with heavy black eye makeup and black lipstick and nail polish, you start to move out of their comfort zone.

I have no problem, it gives me ideas for Holloween far in advance of the day. I find it very entertaining, even downright amusing. As a matter of fact seeing people dressed "goth" is good for a couple of deep belly laughs. If you take the time you spend trying to attract such negative attention and use it to create a new you, your life will be much easier than you think. Come away from the dark side, there is really life where you look with a light.

How stupid does someone have to be to hate someone because they wear a particular colour?? If it's the case that people hate you for that reason then they're not worth knowing in the first place. You just be happy being yourself and take no notice of the narrow minded freaks!

No, b/c I wear lots of black, too. I'm not emo but I do have goth tendencies. If people don't like the way I look they don't have to look at me.

Why should people discriminate like that? If you want to wear black then suit yourself, I wonder sometimes though if its connected with a desire to be noticed/different/unique or an expression of inner pain.

Nope. What bothers me is if they stink.
On second thought, maybe seeing the same person always wears the same color everyday is kinda weird & creepy. I never met someone like that so I don't know how'd I react but yeah, I agree with you, it's kinda..disturbing.
