kids didn't have cell phones 50, 40, 30, 20 years ago now suddenly they can't live without them.

They can have it in school but not be allowed to have them in class. If there is an emergency in school the teachers or other staff can take care of it just as well.

Kids have been known to use them during class to text message when they should be studying/learning.

Also, they have been found to use them for cheating on assignments/tests.

No..Because the students can cheat with cell-phones or they can have chats during the lessons..Plus, if something bad happens to a student in the school, teachers can help or call the students's parents. Students should give their cell-phones to the helper of school director and they can get them back end of the school.

its just stupid on how some parents these days give so much choice and freedom to the kids, and wonder why theyre so uncontrollable and rude. they should only have the simple phone where the kids can dial emergency number and their parent's numbers. track back wat 5-10 years, not everyone had a mobile phone, did we die? no. kids need to learn boundaries. mobiles in my high school are causing problems. kids in primary dont need phones. all they need is to focus on their education. why are parents allowin their kids, 7-13 to have phones with internet access, mp3 players, all the mumbo jumbo? for what? they're payin the bills. if u want ur kid to be safe at all times, get a simple pre-paid phone. no bill. no internet access. no downloads. no mp3s. we should have a standard on whats been allowed to been shown on tv, its disgusting and outrageous how most shows and commercials nowadays are somehow related to sex or sexuality. far out. government needs to do something, before all the kids know about pornography and get themselves doped, turn into criminals and spend their whole lives in prison. like come on people, where is the common sense?

No they do not need them at school. They sit and text each other during class. If something bad happens at the school the school is full of adults who can and will call and will usually give a better detailed account of what is wrong, over some teenager that is repeating what they heard from another teenager.
They can take them to school turned off so they have them after school. My daughters school does that and it works well. If they get caught using during school they get ISS

yes definitely

but- the government should set some standards on the type of CELL

ie., simple cells like nokia 1100 etc

no using highfigh sets like - 6600, or N series etc- which has that MMS , mp3 etc

students should be allowed to use basic model cell fones

teachers just take a cell from student & take it home- sayin " its illigal "

thats not fair

either let them use it or install mobile jammers at the school

simple

;-)

I think, kinds should not..! But, you r sayin a valid point! But, let the schools have a phone in every classroom, which would be attended by the teacher! It'll b convenient 4 de parent to communicate & make a good relationship with the teacher! How's that.?? ha ha!

We live in open, democratic society. Parents should decide if it is proper for their children to have mobile phones. Teachers or school politics should decide if children can bring phones to the classes.

Does anyone remember kids on which some crazy students shoot in a school? This kids phoned to the police about shooting in a school.

For thousands of years the human race had no cell phones, and survived very well without them.
