go down to your local hobby lobby or michaels crafts tore and buy styrofoam balls in the appropriate size for each of the planets and the sun, then buy some then dowel rods (wood) get some styrofoam safe paints and paint each ball the correct color (use a picture off the net) then paint the dowel rods black and stick each on thru both the sun and its resppective planet, making sure to be correct in the distance numbering of each planet
mercury, venus, earth, mars (asteroid belt) jupiter (smal vertical rings) saturn (large slightly tilted horizontal rings), Uranus, Neptune and then pluto.

Making a model of a solar system is about mostly figuring out the scale of the solar system. Often to get the scale right means making it really large because the solar system is so huge. But it could be a good excuse to go outside to demonstrate the size.

The other option is to create a scale model of just the sizes of the planets. May be use a giant beach ball for Jupiter, or the sun. Look up the sizes or diamters of the planets and just set the scale to the largest object you have.

first open your geography book...u will get the picture of how the solar system is...how many planets...what r the colors ...what is at the centre...etc...after that use thermacol ballss or styrfoam avaiable in market.these r round in shape...u can color them with acrylics....for rings around jupiter add cardboard ringss...
