Can someone tell me in layman's terms how to seed an uploaded bit torrent file ?

I have been downloading files using bittorrent, although I have managed to navagate myself thru the download pat of it I am confused re: the upload part of it. I am aware of whats required; Trackers, hashes, peers, other crap and seeding. After I upload my torrent to whatever web site I can not seem to make it work.

If you are using shareaza you click on seed a torrent.
