I assume you are the house husband because you take care of the kids? Well, to be honest, staying at home, doing the chores, taking care of the daily grind of childcare is tedious & can be boring. Just like any job.

You've got to plan your day. Follow a loose schedule. Make sure you do the have -to -be -done jobs, but include something during the day that you will enjoy. That may include making the children happy. If they're happy, parents should be happy.

You must get out of the house. Take the kids to a play group. Or, join a gym & pop kids into the creche. Go cycling with a kiddie seat or child car behind you.

All repetitive work is boring. You have to look for ways to make it different. By the way, I really admire house husbands. What woman wouldn't love a man who is confident taking care of his kids all day!

Hi bored house husband . God, people are quick to judge aren't they? Your wife probably works right ? So, it made financial sense for you to stay at home and look after the kids and the home .
Try getting to know some of the other parents from the kids playschool/school ( if you have kids ), a hobby is always good, if you already have one, see how you can make it more fun, try placing a couple of ads on epal websites, there are a lot of bored people out there etc..good luck anyway.

You need intimacy outside the house. You need a warm, nurturing relationship with an intelligent, attractive, athletic woman who can give it as well as take it if you know what I mean. Men need more intimacy than they can get from just one woman. They are intimacy starved. Just a thought that maybe your wife would lend you out once in a while for house husband training or something. It might perk you up some.

If you are a house husband because you have small children here are some suggestions: Children are sponges, and will learn things now which will benefit you for their entire lives. Teach them to be useful, helpful, and positive by giving them small "jobs" around the house - like polishing shoes, polishing flatware (doesn't have to be silver, use a sponge and a little baking soda on stainless), organizing or arranging their toys or clothes in a special way - it's not really busy work. It's teaching them a small skill and they can be proud of the result. I'm sure in your own house you can find something appropriate for their ages and take the time and patience to set them up, supervise their first go at it, and reward the results in some appropriate way, like a new tee shirt for folding shirts well, or ice cream for polishing flatware, etc. It sets the expectation that they will be required to contribute to the household - this is priceless.

As far as you yourself, learn to knit - it is easy, gives a great result - a cool multi-stitch scarf for example - and is easily put down and picked up again and trasportable. Why do you think women have been doing it for centuries? Just take one week-end or evening class at your local yarn shop and you'll be all set. That's my 2 cents.

Of course I did much more - I'm an artist, so all six of my kids had crayons, pencils, markers, and we bought big rolls of butcher block paper and drew huge lifesize drawings when I taped it on the wall for them. We used Sculpy clay. We had a ball. None of them are professional artists like me, but none of them watch T.V. much and they are all very creative, smart people now. I will tell you that as a result of creative activities I have never had a bored moment in my life. Even when simply rocking a crying baby for hours when they're ill, I was never bored. I thought of poems to write, or things to draw for later. Or I just enjoyed the feeling of their warm little body breathing on my shoulder - just loving her or him - and knowing that these moments come and go so quickly and I wanted to cherish that memory for years. I can still today feel that little body on mine in my memory because I concentrated on those moments.

You are a house husband and find time to be bored, I am not so much a house husband as a single parent.
between the computer, my writing, housework, my children and visitors i dint have the time to get bored.
I am up at five and often get back to bed after one, there is just not enough hours in a day.

do what we women do when we are bored, go shopping! or why not cook a candlelit dinner for the both of you?
If you go shopping make sure you buy your wife a nice outfit or pressie (any thing is better than nothing) and before she gets home make an effort and shave, style your hair, dont forget to smell nice too, women like their men to make an effort too you know!

Can't understand why you're bored. Have you cleaned the lampshades, top of curtains, behind the bathroom sink, around the back of the loo, under the bed? If you have then you should be in bed getting your rest for tomorrows lot. - laugh
