what are open chords?

i've just started to learn to play guitar,and i really really need some help...thanx for reading ,please help!!

when you don't press on any of the strings while your playing a chord, i guess

here it is:
for minor chords: Em, Am, Dm, Em6, Am6, Dm6, Em7, Am7, Dm7
for major chords: E6, E7, A6, A7, D6, D7, G6, G7, F6, F7, C7

If you are refering to the open strings they are E,A ,D,B,G,E
