Idiot work at no pay and few benefits. But you get great insight into the workings of government, NGOs, business, etc. and meet very useful contacts for the future.

In Government, you also often get a security clearance, helpful for the future. I believe you get retirement credit too, if you are ever re-employed by the Federal Government.
