There are many things which life has taught me which have nothing to do with martial art (even though I could probably find a parallel) so I'm going to tell you about what martial art has taught me about life.
One very important thing is to avoid prejudice in any form whatsoever. Even though you may not agree with someone, there is no need to denigrate him or her.
Another is to cultivate a fertile mind. It's true what they say about it being a terrible thing to waste.

what about you?

Trust no one.
Nice guys get squashed.
Nobody ever made a statue of a critic.
Saw what you like because the people who mind don't matter and the people who matter don't mind.
The sky is never the limit.
They're just a few things I've learned but the most important thing is that you don't waste a second of life. Carpe Diem!

I agree with you. For me, life has taught me to be humble. And the most important thing in life for me is to love and be loved. And try to live life to its full extention. I'm trying to live under this principle. The fact is that it is not easy to love and be loved; and to not waste life. Most of the time now, I have no idea what I am doing. I feel I am in a nightmare and don't know if I am ever gonna wake out from it before my time ran out...

Life has taught me acceptance.

You have to accept that there are only 2 things in life that are certain: death and uncertainty.

You will die, there is no doubt about that.

As for uncertainty, however much you plan ahead, your tomorrow, your future etc... the fact remains that nothing is for sure, something drastic may happen to change your plans, and often does.

Life has basically taught me to accept each day as it comes, that way you will always avoid dissappointment.

Life has taught me to disregard the saying/practice "see what you want to see". That phrase limits you to the whole truth. Problem is the truth can be ugly, so most people choose only to see/accept what is beneficial to them because they don't want to be hurt. As painful as it can be, try to look at the whole picture. Choosing only to accept what you desire for your own benefit only leads to disappointment, since you did not want to accept the totality of the situation/person/reality and thus blinded yourself to any possible outcome.
I also learned the true concept of yin-yang. Opposites exist because one cannot fully exist without the other. There is no light without dark, no pleasure without pain, no gain without loss. One side exists in the void of the other and vice versa...
...hope my 5:30am EST rambling made some kind of sense...

Life has taught me that there is plenty enough to go around. In other words, don't be envious of what someone else has. Whether it's salary, material goods, or recognition.

There is plenty enough for everyone and we all get what we are suppose to have. Even if we think we deserve more!

I tried to cultivate my mind but all I could grow was mushrooms and weed

What has life taught me most?
- we know very little about everything
- we guess a lot
- we are often wrong but like defending our opinions

Avoid prejudices: but realize there are racist of ALL skin colors.

Understand that not everybody you meet in a day's time is openly friendly; watch your back--espicially around both strangers and your co-workers.

Keep friends close--and your enemies closer. Use the art of diplomacy---and watch your enemy's every move.

Defend yourself and life by the simple rule: Do NOT engage, but be ready for the other(s) to engage first. They go first. They miss, you don't. They sting you--you HURT them. They knock you down--you put them in the hospital. It's wiser to kill them AFTER they fail in their chance to kill you.

It's taught me not to be judgemental too soon...and that you can't get everything you would like, nor is it necessary that everything you might like will even be good for u....and that there is no such thing as a free meal.. and that you need to stand your ground when you know you are right, but it's better to be diplomatic than hurt someone's feelings....and that if you have good friends, u're damn lucky !!
