i know someone that is constantly late...ive had a feeling that he's insecure about certain things, namly leadership and his need to take responsibility/charge....here's the interesting part- he's ALWAYS late for whatever comes up. honestly...absolutley everything you can imagine that comes up with 1, 2...a group of people. Whether one specific person's there or not, he'll be late. now i heard something interesting recently-someone said that be late forces others to wait for you...hence it gives you power. at a subconcious level, constantly being late i heard can be a sign of insecurities...
how valid is this statement???any thoughts?

It could be one or the other. You already know the answer to this. What is he like when he shows up? Does he just take command and get it over with or does he hesitate and stumble? Do these people walk all over him etc...Is the job getting done? Is there any threat of losing a life at this job? If so take care of this problem, before it takes care of you.

Doubtful.
Bad timing or not being able to plan or being distracted easily come first.
