Dad found out he had 12-18 months. He made it 12 months, and died of the cancer. Now I know about what to expect, and I know how Dad handled it, I'd like to take it like a man, and die like he did, if it happened to me.

Didn't mean to bring anybody down, there. Sorry.

btw, be there for him. It's better to have family around that understands, rather than strangers that don't have a clue.

You are often the first to accept it when told your illness is terminal or incurable. You go through your stages of numbness, anger etc naturally, but you are often the first to accept. Then you begin to prepare those around you, especially your children and you live your life the best you can. You make your memories for yourself and everyone who is a part if your life and you try to stay mentally strong as many around you cannot. My condition is Lupus. My father and Uncle have different forms of cancer, so none of us take anything for granted. I have also lost 2 friends to cancer, who suffered terribly and if I got like that I think I could be very tempted to end it before it got that far.

oh and be as normal as you can around your uncle. Just be you. Just love him like you do now.He will appreciate that. All my best wished to him and your family. Good Luck hun.

It would definately be a hard blow, but don't give up hope, doc's are often wrong. 2-3 years I would call old friends I haven't seen in years, I would apoligize to someone I hurt, I would be a better father and a better husband, I would formulate a plan to where I would leave this earth a better place, I would make a difference in someones life.

I think, I'd complete all the things I never had enough time to. Spend more time with people I love... try not to spoil last days panicking and self-pitying.
but it's hell scary - to know that u r slowly dying. probably, I'd go for all this non-traditional medicine stuff to try and get last moment cure. I don't know... anybody can say anything, but the truth is that u can never imagine urself in such a situation until u r actually in it.

Do what U want but most importantly, be happy and it's best to have a religion so that U can have faith... Faith and happiness can make U live much longer... I have heard of people who had only 5 years, yet live 10 years already and is still living...

i often thought of the same Q myself.

i think i would want to do a bit of travelling (if finances allow), spend some time with my family and friends, play more mahjong, and simply carry on life as normal as i can.

i also hope that my family will give me their blessings to have my ashes scatttered in the sea after i depart.

a farewell party to bid everyone goodbye might be good..i dont know. do we really know which day would that be?

finally, i wish to die in peace.

I would take it as: So,so, cause that's how my whole life has been and I would keep doing what I am doing now till I am so sick I have to be put in the hospital, then I guess I die!!!!! That's life! What can I do about it anyway?!!! If it happens, it happens!!!!!

It's just sooner or later, all of us will left. Even people who live till 100 years old, there will still be things in his/her opinion haven''t done. At least he still know how much time left over, make full use of it.
