No one is perfect, and no one is totally imperfect. Perfection isn't a worthy goal. Becoming a stronger person for life and work is, however. Not everyone is concerned about becoming a better person. But many are trying to improve their knowledge, skills, motivations, attitudes and character strengths. Becoming a better you. If you want to do this, and become more effective in your own life, it's a good idea to start with aspects that you need to work on, "shortcomings" if you want to call them that. But this sort of thing isn't easy, because behavior patterns are ingrained in the neurons. The work is to ingrain new behavior patterns, new ways of behaving. People do it it all the time, but only with persistence. You'll fall short a lot, forgive yourself, and keep on trying to do better. I have changed things that took many years of work. Such as trying to be a more patient person. But only you can do this, no one can do it for you. Yes, that means accepting responsibility for who you are and what you want to become.

I try to view my short comings objectively. I am always looking at ways of improving my handling of situations but I don't make the mistake of putting myself down or dwelling on my short comings. Its only when we are honest enough to admit to ourselves that we have short comings that we become far more tolerant of others. I know that I sometimes see a good quality in a person that I don't have and realize there is still room for improvement in my own life.

One cannot accept that responsibility. If someone thinks that way it is because they have been taught to think that way. Nobody has short-comings, just different talents. It is this type of negative thinking that creates barriers, or road blocks, to one enjoying a satisfying life. We tend to move towards what we think so, we need to take control of our thoughts and not allow anyone else to make an undesirable contribution to how we think. We fight wars in the name of freedom yet succumb to others enslaving our minds.

Hey no one is perfect. We all have shortcomings. The trick is to get to know them and make a honest effort to overcome them. If you are able to realize the short comings half work is already done. All then you need to know is whether you beleive it is a shortcoming or not. If you do think it is then its the time to change yourself a little to make you a better you. But if you would do that just to please others beleive me it wont work. Think about it.

It's called "playing the victim."
You can become a better person by not assuming that negative events are caused by you or any short comings you think you have.
If the people around you are telling you that your short comings are causing negative things to happen, it's time to move on and find better people to be with.
