I consider myself a person who deals with situations in a "real" sense but friends and coworkers say that I have a negative outlook on life just because I don't find beauty in everything? I'm a capricorn and naturally we're pessimist. I just feel like I am real and I don't live in a fantasy land. What do you all think?

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

The quotation apart, there is only a thin line between being prudent and pessimistic. Being prudent should not be an excuse for not trying and a guarantee to a personal failure. Then it becomes pessimism.

Yes, I agree with your friends, why don't you try and see the good things in life and also admire all lovely aspects of life?
I am not asking you to ignore the ugly distorted things of life. Try and distinguish the good and bad in life . Only if you develop the habit of appreciating things in their proper perspective, you live your life to its full.
You being a Capricorn does not mean you should necessarily be a pessimist.
Being a pessimist is your choice. Not in every aspect of life.

As long as you're not constantly stressing the negatives in life, you're not a pessimist.

I don't think you're a pessimist. I just think you don't value the power of diplomacy.

it's pessimism. we like to call it realism, but pessimism is when you fail to see anything nice about a situation. realism is when you see it's nice, and are willing to enjoy it, but are cautious.
