I want to be cremated - the thing is, that way you can choose where your remains lie. I'm not very religious, so I think it would be a bit hipocritical to be buried in a church graveyard. I haven't been to church since the obligatory Sundays at Boarding School!

I want my ashes to be thrown into the sea, at my fave spot....

Also, surely if you are cremated, your soul has en easier route up to heaven, with the smoke etc... Rather than being stuck in a coffin....

I totally agree with the "Circle of life" thing though - if I could just be buried without a coffin, where I chose, then at least my remains would contribute to the soil, insects etc... But you can't do it that way nowadays...

I'd love to know other people's opinions on this!!

Cremated. I don't want to be embalmed either - just burned and scattered back to the earth. Getting buried I think is sort of selfish - basically you're just putting bio hazardous material in the earth on purpose.

My mom used to say that the reason she wanted to be buried was because on 'judgment day' it would be easier for god to be able to revive a body. I say if this god is so powerful, why can't he put together some ashes? I don't really believe in that anyway, I think that the body is really just a shell and if there is such a thing as a soul, it shouldn't matter if there's a body there or not.

I find that people tend to get more religious the closer they get to the end. Personally, I have heard such horror stories about the desecration of graveyards. It really frightens me that my body could wind up in a bone pile somewhere, cast aside so some cemetery worker can resale my casket. So I have decided against the burial option. Next I considered a mausoleum. ( I hope I spelled that right lol) Now this seems airtight and all, but it is vulnerable to mother nature. So now I feel the only option would be cremation. My personal choice is to have my ashes taken out to sea. I considered Las Vegas too lol. Well there is still time to decide. I found your ? very interesting. I just had to stop and answer this one. buried. a burial seems more prestigious and classy than a cremation. ive seen a cremation and it is not a a good sight putting someone in an oven...and then grind your bones afterwards. Also, some of your friends or relatives may see cremation a bit violent so it might be disturbing for them. And who knows...if some million years after you would be discovered by an anthropologist...you'd be a star then (in a museum)...or your graveyard be some ghost legend in a futuristic town. On the downside you could also just be a victim of some graveyard thief.

Cremated, don't want to waste space, coz as you said, the worms can't have me that way and well eventually were gunna run out of ground for people to be buried. You know they've been talking about burying people standing up because of that fact, I can think of nothing worse. Never liked the idea of being put into a small box and covered with dirt to decay away. :)

Neither. Shot into outerspace in a rocket. I want to make a good impression when we make first contact.

Honest opion though? I don't think you are your body. As much as we love to believe in this life time that we are our body we are not our body. We are our soul.. and there is only one soul, the creator, and you are one with that soul. You will never actually "die" no matter which way you choose to die. You will live on, and you will create a new reality to experience individual parts of yourself. I know it sounds weird. But all matter is intelligent.. it's all connected.. even the anti matter... all these things on a quantum level are energy that vibrate intelligently together. And you are one with that! I think what you choose for after your death will be a wonderful thing.. and it's a great idea. I believe we did the same thing with my grandfather's ashes. I always feel that he has been with me, even after death.. a part of me now that I can call forth at any time. I love life.. and death is just another illusion of our seperation from the universe and god alike.

I'm sorta in between beliefs. My family's Buddhist and I went to an Episcopalian school, but I have no religion of my own. Since I live in a community with limited space, a lot of people choose to cremate themselves and then have their ashes put into a family crypt--but instead of coffins or bodies, they have urns. It seems to be a compromise of beliefs, not to be thrown away forever, but also to respect the Buddhist beliefs. I myself appreciate this and would probably do it this way too.

Cremated and have a painting of me done w/ the ashes... my husband has the choice... I think a bit of everything would be nice... I saw a show on tv where they were talking about cremation and that now they're able to turn your ashes into diamonds.... I think that is extremely cool and meaningful... or throw them in the sea and some in CA and some in TX.

I want to be cremated and ashes shed at a beautiful place. Therefore when people come 'visit' me for rememberance, they'd see this breathtaking place and be happy for me instead of crying infront of a tombstone!

and thus what you said is true, i want my body to return to the soils that feeds the vegetables that feels us or other animals. I want to be part of earth. this is nature. being buried means i'd take up space that the living could instead, use to enjoy. and cemetries are not the most lovely places for the living too! :P

when i die my soul is in the hearts of people who'd remember me, i'm not in the empty casket buried under the dirty so why mislead them?

i am not too sure but here's why. i was driving past a cemetary about 3 months ago. it occured to me that it was awesome real estate and no one will be able to bulldoze and place buildings on it. that seems wrong to me because i see buildings as art set in the current era. art means more to me than stone epitaphs.... cremation just freaks me out, the whole burning thing. maybe just buried without a coffin of marker of any sort. somewhere out of the way and easy to vist. under a tree or something sounds nice.
