Just so I can show you your ignorance dictionary boy.

A liberal was a term used originally to refer to people who believed in free government because they were throwing off the constraints of tyranny.

That is, liberating themselves.

Today, liberal is used to refer to these same "anti-constraints" minded people, because they are seeking to liberate themselves.

I won't go to the trouble here, but the progression from liberal to liberal can be easily shown.

The difference is this. Some constraints are realities of human nature and natural law.

You can't say, throw off sexuall constraints and not expect to suffer some kind of disease.

You can't throw off the constraint of the need to work, and not go hungry.

The liberal of yesterday threw off the constraints of another persons will, like a King, that was exploiting his labor in an act of tyranny.

The liberal of today, throws of constraints that cannot be thrown off, and then uses my resources, labor, See next

time, etc. to fund the research, government bureaucracy, etc. etc. etc. that goes to helping people act irresponsibly.

Actually the use of the term liberal is absolutely justified.

It only pertains to different perspects on the concept of liberation.

The classical liberal believed in liberation from oppression. The modern liberal has tried to liberate himself from everything, including reality.

Is this a joke?
Yes, if people are really liberal, they are good. But often the term is just used to reference a political position that stands philosophically non-extreme and distinct from the conservative. This kind of reactionary, combative "liberalism" is routinely lacking spirituality, and in my humble opinion then, pseudo-liberal.
