Major companies have R&D groups and large files of untaped ideas. Get your invention patented before you approach them or they will say "Not Interested" and if your idea is good you will see it on the market as they will claim it was in our research files.

above all else....Patent it first, then it becomes your intellectual property. don't show it to a soul until it's pattented. Then, Shop it around to those you think might benefit. Because then they can't screw you.
