I will be holding a diploma in Information Systems by December this year. I wanted to go up to degree level but funds cannot allow. I am thinking of corresspondence/online studies. Whats the difference between me sitting in a lecture room and doing it on my own on correspondence/online? Does it have any impact in industry and during job hunt?

It does not affect your job to take the degree online because most jobs count the degree based on its merit but other college may not recognize it. There are new laws in place so most of the major online school will be certifed before 2010

on line education is reliable but you need to see who is providing on line education. look for accreditation, if course is accredited then its as good as normal course.
where do you live? or from where you were looking on line course. as in some countries on line education is not much worth.
