i have two older sons age 10 and 8, so im used to all this...it's just that with my first i would worry, fuss, and totally lose my mind about it. i find it amuzing now because..well, it seemed so silly to worry about it so much back then. im enjoying it i guess you could say...they grow up SO FAST!!

My daughter is 14 months and still will not just go to sleep on her own. She will fight it all the way. We got into a bad habit of laying her down with us so we could make sure she would lay down and fall asleep. Now, I put her on my lap when it's time for a nap or bed and read to her, sing to her or just rock her to sleep. Once she's asleep I put her in her crib. It's been working for us. My daughter is a very social little girl and doesn't like to miss anything (just like her daddy), which I believe is why she fights sleep so much. Good luck and keep up the good spirits. You got to keep your sanity. LOL!

My son does this all the time. I don't know how you put your daughter to sleep, but I used to hold him and rock him to sleep. Then he got too heavy so I used a pacifier and just laid next to him. At first he went out like a light, but then it got harder. At 1 I got rid of the pacifier. So I just laid there with him, and he would take at least 30 minutes or more to sleep. Then I tried to let him cry it out. From what I read I thought he'd cry for a week or so and then just get used to it. He never got used to it. After about a month he still cried when I put him to bed, but he always fell asleep after crying for 5-10 minutes. Now I have to put him to sleep by laying next to him because his anxiety has gotten worse. He screams his little head off when I leave the room. I feel so bad, and think, what is the worse that could happen if i put him to sleep? He's 15 months now.

I know what you mean. My son is 16 months and it's the same. Sometimes he is so sleepy that when he tries to walk, he sways to the other side but still fights it. The only solution I could suggest is to try and keep he more occupied during the day so that when it's sleep time she's all bummed out. Good luck!

Are you kidding me? I have a 2 1/2 year old who STILL does this. That poor child will do *anything* to stay awake--kicking his legs, babbling, asking for water, telling me he needs a new diaper (when it's obvious he doesn't), etc.
His brother (13 months old) isn't so bad about this. He'll be so tired he can barely keep his eyes open--yawning, rubbing his eyes, etc., and the second we carry him back to his crib, he starts WAILING. Thankfully, however, once he realizes that he's comfortable and we're not going to "rescue" him, he quiets down and is out like a light.

As long as she's not screaming it's fine. Mine used to scream for nearly one and a half hours, vomit and pretty much totally exaust himself until he fell asleep. He's still non stop now at nearly 8 years old. I really think you can tell what their personality be like from when they are a baby.

At 6 mo she is too interested in the world and is learning so fast that she doesn't want to sleep. They are cute doing it, unless they are a screamer! She will outgrow this so don't worry.

yeah. Mine took a while too. My youngest is 13 months old now. It doesn't bother me. I just leave the room and go check in a half hr or hour.

Mine does that when it's time to nap. At bedtime she goes without a fight. I keep her up and talk to her and play fight with her to keep her up. When it's time for bed it takes only 4 ounces of formula to go nighty night. she might rub her eyes when I'm feeding her though but thats about it.
