Its not just Americans,Australians here also.Probably the whole western world,-due to the presevatives and other junk they put into our fast foods.I beleive a test was done on a macdonalds berger and it was put in with some freshly made ones. The freshly made ones all deteriorated and the macdonalds one was still ok after days??dont know the full story on that but i can beleive it.Previous generations never had these fast food outlets and even when they appeared, they treated themselves perhaps once a week, or less, --not every day as some of us do.?/

Portion sizes. It's not what they eat that is the problem. It's the amounts they eat. The french have a diet that is rich in meat and fat but they eat smaller portions.

Too busy to prepare foods so we eat fast (fat) foods.
Too busy to exercise.
Too many video games and less outdoor games for kids.
Schools serve McDonald's to the kids for lunch.
The government subsidizes the corn industry to make high fructose corn syrup to sweeten all of our food making it more addicting and higher in calories.
Too many food advances in the snack food arena. (there aren't too many ways to improve on broccoli and peas, they don't come "NOW EVEN GREENER")
