My husband has a third nipple.
When I was pregnant I asked would it be passed on to a female child.
I got told no it is passed on in the male gene so a female child wouldn't get it.
My daughter was born and the doctor was right and she doesn't have it.
My husbands third nipple is small and underneath his left nipple about 2 inches down. It reacts like a nipple when he gets cold.
From what the doctor told me girls do not get a third nipple but I am not an expert on this subject.

This is called "polythelia". The "Man with the Golden Gun" in an early James Bond 007 movie has it too. Nothing to worry about it as it is an "imperfection during your skin formation" that's all. Have it removed if you want since there are no breast tissue underneath the extra nipple which is located along the "Milk Line" as seen in an animal (dog or cat). It is a cosmetic issue now!!

You get called a freak by people on answers! I was told by a doctor that it is really quite a common thing, and unless there is inflammation or irritation with it, then nothing will happen. I heard of someone (a friend of a friend kinda thing) who had one on her back, and it started to swell, due to there being a small amount of breast tissue, she had it removed. And she is a girl, so females can have it. But unless it is really obvious and causing distress, leave well alone and enjoy it!

(No Joke - the third nipple was supposed to be a sure 'witch's mark', placed there by the devil when the witch entered his service, and from which she or he suckled imps! I once knew a guy with a perfectly formed nipple on his left buttock!)

Apparently it can be of a mole appearance and could be linked to cancer or so I'm told. It does exist but im a little intruged how you came to ask such a question!!

Ross on Friends had a third nipple !!! had it removed (it was a mole in disguise)
