I have a broken TV monitor and a coffee table sitting at the corner of my living room. I am not sure how I can get rid of them in L.A. Can I just leave them next to trash can? or is there a number to call to pick them up? I am not familiar with these things, please give me advice...

take them outside and put price tags on them, then go back inside like youre going to get something else. they will be gone before you get back outside.

your coffee table can be broken down fairly easy with a wrench and screw driver but you may have too saw the table in half as trash pick up will only take wood in 4ft sections,i don't think they will pick up the television if the cathode tube is still intact you may have to take that to the dump yourself.
you might try calling some t.v. repair shops to see if they might want it for spare parts if the television is not too old.

Put them in the free section of Craigslist.

or freecycle

The coffee table w/ probably find a home.

Don't know about the tv. for that, yes, I'd just put it by the trashcans. you might have to call for a special pickup. My trash truck driver calls things in for me. Or I can call him at home the night before & he'll arange it before he leaves the yard. If you know your driver, that's an option. I've always felt that it's important to know the people who service my neighborhood. My post man always knows he's welcome for a cold drink, ups driver & I wave at each other in other parts of town, he'll stop me if he has a package for me. I know the name & story behind the guy I buy my coffee from on the way to work. They are people & they have names & families. Their day goes so much faster if they have friends on their routes.

Call Good Will Industries or the Salvation Army. In most places they do pick ups. The phone numbers should be listed in your directory. I'm sure they will be pleased to have them.
