Because we sometimes come across as arrogant and "Our way is the only correct way." We don't' necessarily practice what we preach--We love to tell the rest of the world what to do, but we don't' necessarily like being told what to do by others. Not everyone is responsive to that. Plus, nowadays it doesn't help that our leader is perceived in the world as cocky and arrogant--and that perception is then generalized as how all Americans are.

... Because everyone outside (and quite a lot inside) America know that there are ulterior motives to everything America does abroad. When Bush pledges $Xbn dollars to fighting AIDS, folk inside America think he's trying to help the world, whilst folk outside America see that most of that money goes to the American drugs companies that produce the drugs that treat AIDS - the American economy is based on a system of corporate welfare. It's the same with invading countries, destroying their infrastructure, then pledging billions to rebuillding said country - all that isn't a gift to the people of that country - it's OWED to them, and in teh end it just goes into the coffers of the shareholders of the American companies that do the rebuilding. There is also the P.R. aspect - Bush has just pledged $230m to rebuilding Lebanon - Hezbollah have already started doing the same thing, which makes Israel and America look bad to the people of the Middle East.
But it's also important to know that not everyone in the world blames the American public - a lot do, because both Republican and Democratic administrations do this - a lot of the world population can't see that it's corporations (of which much of the government are part of, as well as the media and the campaign funders) that control the government, and figure that the American people condone this - whilst in fact the American people don't know what's happening because the media is controlled by the very corporations who profit from all this dodgy foreign policy, and therefore don't report on the consequences or where all the money actually ends up...
Also, it's important to understand that all Western countries do this - it's just that America is the front runner and typification of this model.
... And the beat goes on...

Why do you want to help the whole world just help yourself and be content with what you have but no you want the juiciest portion of the steak i.e the OIL of the Middle Eastern and other oil producing countries. When you had to buy oil you were buying it at a fixed price of $18 a barrel and now after stealing the oil wealth from Iraq you are selling this oil at over $70 a barrel, then after that you want people to praise you.

The american public's hearts are in the right place (for the most part). Our problem is that what we hear on our news networks doesn't include the true motives of our executive branch of government. After all, do you think that the german public knew about the genocide camps in a timely manner...Right now, the oil industry is in contorl of our nations helm. I wonder what truths will be churned up over the next few decades about whats gone on in the last few years? Most of this terrorist bull**** is nothing compared to our countrys tactics...remember operation "shock and awe"?

I am not talking of crap about US or Americans. But, why should they behave, as if they are there to police the world, why should they interfere in other countries affairs, like Iraq, Vietnam, etc? You are not helping them, as you might think.
By the way, your own countrymen talk ill of your President. What do you tell them?

I don't think that the world want your help. same times you, the Americans (USA), have your own interests in different conflicts, and you don't help because of the help, but becaus your interests. For example the war in Iraq is not because Saddam Husein it's because oil. And all wars which your government (the last one) began in the Middle East are not to help but to take control under the oil, because who control oil he control the world

Let them talk. Unfortunately, our forefathers gave them that right. Who are we to judge them. But I bet they are rolling over in their graves now very disappointed in the patriotism of this country. It is sorely lacking...that's for sure.
We are a superpower and we have an inherent duty to help those who need it or ask for it. It's just like a comic book superhero, folks..."With great power, comes great responsibility! "
We don't always come out smelling like roses, but hopefully the manure will enrich and some good things will grow from it.
We definitely have good intentions. That is what's important. But alot of people fail to see that.

You make a good point. Though I'm sure many people we help are grateful. But the whiners and complainers (about US) make the news. That may be because they are jealous of our many blessings. I'm still willing to give them a helping hand. That's what God wants us to do, to share our blessings with others.

We try to 'help' everyone in our own interest. Often times that 'help' is unwanted but forced on the recipients. So our 'help' is helping us or our allies but it may actually be harming the people we are trying to 'help.'

Did you ever hear that Charity begins at home? Instead of sending billions overseas yearly, lets get our own people working, housed, paid decent wages and also healthcare...this country's vision is lost...FTW
