How do you feel about the fact that the universe is infinately huge and deals in terms of 100s of billions of years while you yourself deal in terms of 10s. No God responses please. Thank you.

No point to dwell in our insignificance, since there is nothing we can really do about it. Besides, insignificance is relative. An insect only live for about two weeks and to us that is insignificant. But does it make us feel any better that we are so much more significant than an insect? Yet, as the one of the longest living creatures in the animal kingdom, we still compare our significance to that of mountains and the universe.

Actually, I am fascinated by that fact. There's things like knowledge and emotions that can't be measured by year. I don't feel insignificant. A universe does not think or feel, and how would I look if I were a 100 billion years old? I'm just grateful I'm not going to be alive when something happens like our sun expands.

Science says that there is no reasons why humans cannot live without aging. At the most, we are never older than 7 years of age, as the body cycles every cell in the body over that period. So billions of years is nothing, if we lived as long as we should be living. The brain, alone, has the estimated capacity store 10,000 years worth of data. No God or Bible, just science.

When I in good mood, I feel : "great! I am not the one responsible for the world. All I need to do is do my little job and live as happy as I can." But when I in bad mood or depression, I feel : "sh*t! what on the earth I am doing here? What's the purpose for me here? Why all the bad luck pick me out of the 6 billion population?"

I don't really ponder infinity. My consciousness keeps me busy and feeling sufficiently self-important.

Look in the mirror. That's the big picture as far as YOU are concerned. Now how would you like YOU to look in other humans' eyes? That should be a significant enough burden to carry for the rest of your life.

It is very confusing. Since the universe is infinate, how is it getting bigger?
When I think of that I feel lost. I don't like feeling lost, so I don't think of the "big picture". I know that there are many, more educated than I, who do think of it--a lot, and they can't agree on anything.
Ask something simple like which came first--the chicken or the egg.

I think it's great. It makes me feel better to know that no matter what I do, or humanity does, it's not going to make a bit of difference. The universe doesn't need me or humanity in general to give it meaning, and I think most people forget that. We don't shape the universe, but if we are lucky we can glimpse the shape.

To be honest, I go every day knowing this fact and yet I don't feel small or insignificant in any way. Why? Because I do not care about mankind's circumstances, I care only about what he may one day achieve.

And in reality, man can achieve anything.

In fact, the donut I am eating right now is extremely tasty.
It is made of a million trillion molecules which are working in my favor.

And I can disolve them in my coffee when these molecules will be soaked with the water molecules they will need to adjust themselves in a lot tinier space. Or I can put them in my fridge to allow them more space when the air molecules contract.

I am in control of very many donuts and coffee.

You said it, insignificant and don't you think you're a little closed minded by limiting your answer?
