Your A/C does two functions. 1) it removes heat from the ambient air. 2) It removes moisture from the ambient air.

Sometimes an A/C can reomve the heat faster than it removes the moisture. Since the thermostat that controls it is regulated by tempature alone, once the thermostat is satisfied it will turn the A/C off. When this happens it creates a cool-damp environment that is ideal for mold growth.

Make sure the blower motor is running on high speed when the A/C is on and check the refirgerant level, it may be slightly low.
