Can anyone recommend a reputable & honest mechanic/shop in the Dallas/Ft Worth area where I can take my car to for my a/c?

Not sure what shop, but have you tried to fix the a/c yourself? If the system is only blowing air out then all you need is a recharge of coolent. It is much easier to do then it sounds. Every parts store has them. Just buy a recharge kit that includes the "pump" and the freon. Instructions should come on the can and for less then $30 you can have a/c again. When the freon runs out, just put more in. That's what I do. But if you do take it to a shop they will do one of two things. Either replace the system at the cost of well over a thousand dollars, or they will do what you could do which is give it a recharge and charge you two hundred bucks. Be aware though that when you or they recharge it nothing is fixed. There will still be a leak in the hose and freon will still escape. Good luck.

Check the local yellow pages and ring round a few.

HOW BAD DO YOU WANT A/C. TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP.
