What "stay the course" means is don't look at the failure. believe that if you keep trying you will win. like a gambler who loses a lot of money. But rather than take his loses and the rest of his cash and go home. He has too much pride to admit the casino got the best of him. So he take out loans, max out the cards, then starts hawking his watch and rings. After he has to sell the car he end up on his knees giving lips service in the men's' room. all for a little bit more, for that on last pull of the bandit. Surely that would be the tipping point and he will then start to win.

I have flashbacks to that SNL skit that has Dana Carvey playing George H.W. Bush (41) in the presidential debate where he kept saying "Stay the Course...." Jon Lovitz played Dukakis...it's hilarious!!!

"Stay the course" would be to keep the same objective in mind. It shouldn't mean to keep trying to achieve the goal with a method that isn't working. There's an old business adage: Never throw good money after bad. In other words, if the method you are using to reach your goal doesn't work, don't keep doing it. Duh!

Stay the corse to me means a sore shoulder, because if my kayak starts getting sucked out to sea in a strong current I have to paddle my eyes off to avoid oblivion.
