Simple answer is yes.
What always amazes me and I heard this just today, is when ppl say that we 'defeated' communism. That statement makes no sense to me because how on earth did some other country's economic system threaten us.
The only logical reason one could derive from this goal to destroy communism would be that the USA at the time feared it would be successful and become appealing to Americans.

Fear a system that has proved itself a failure? There is not one communist country that has a standard of living even remotely close to America, Britain, Japan, Canada, Australia, or even Germany. Even China is allowing more free enterprise and privately owned business.

For God's sake, knock it off with the plutocracy crap. If you live in America, get the f**k out if you're so unhappy. If you don't live here, shut the f**k up and fix your own piece of s**t country.

they fear anything that challenges the present dumba$$ system or helps to open their minds. Life with blinkers on is so comfortable... even if it is a freewheeling ride to disaster.
