I know crime is everywhere and no place is really safe but we all know there are parts of town that are CRIME RIDDLED. Which parts like that should I avoid?

San Antonio is a large city in land size and unfortunately is getting much larger in population. Along with the population comes more crime and it is not centrally concentrated in one particular area. If you prefer to live in a nicer part of S.A. be prepared to pay more for rent or your home. One thing to consider is where you work will probably determine where you will live. Traffic here is getting worse year after year. I live as far South as you can get in San Antonio and I love it. No one bothers us and you don't have the crime or the noise of the city. Some people from the north side of town will tell you to stay away from the west, east, or southside because they are dangerous. But that is just typical bigotry, mostly from people who don't know the city and stay sheltered in their consumer driven lives. San Antonio has many different cultures which make up this great city and you can find good people from every walk of life. San Antonio people are very easy to make friends with. Friendships that will last you a lifetime. The areas in San Antonio criticized for having high crime are mostly exaggerated in the media. Although we are a fast-growing city we sometimes have the habit of showing how small time, backwood, country we can be. My suggestion to you is to come and visit the whole city for a while and you'll see what it's all about. Try not to get caught up in one particular area just because you think it might be safer. There are just as many bad people with money than there are poor people here. Good luck and God Bless you if you do in fact decide to relocate.

San Antonio is a really big city. You might be more specific about any landmarks you want to be close to. The Northside of town is newer and growing faster than the Southside, and there isn't much selection in apartments downtown yet.

DW's suggestion was good, the 281/1604 area is nice, and has alot of new stuff. Try to stick with the Northwest or Northeast sides.

sorry to say that there is possible crime in all areas of the city. you just have to be carefull. try the 281/1604 area, it's convenient to the other expressways and there are alot of new apt complexes being built in that area.
