Tricky question.
Not really BUT I do respect them as a powerful force if there was ever a military conflict between us. Based on that, I fear more that my insane president might do something stupid and tick them off.

There's no need to be afraid of China, but you can't idly sit by and watch what's going on, without taking notice, and being a bit concerned. In this shift towards a global economy, China's huge demand on foreign oil, and a terrible trade deficit, it's clear that there's a lot to worry about. It's important to continue to work with China, because of the role they play in international politics (No one has that kind of power over say North Korea). But really, we should embrace it,and find out how we (as Americans) can earn a buck off their rapid development too, instead of watching all our jobs float away. As far as a military fear, there's nothing to fear there. China may have the masses but their technology is still behind, and they don't have a navy. If they plan to "take over" anything, it won't be by physical force. It will be the same way Japan has done over the last few decades.

Not really--originally I was scared of their economic rise, but we are becoming so interdependent, we will need one another and we can both thrive if we play our cards right. BUT--we do need to look at putting more people in school who want to be engineers and scientists. China is kicking our proverbial a**es in education. We need to step up and realize our position at the top is being crowded out by others--including India who isn't that far behind--and start getting serious about things. We shouldn't be afraid--after all, isn't the whole mantra of a capitalist economic model that competition is good?

I like China, I think they're doing phenominal things over there. People have no reason to be afraid. You can't get mad at them for doing right and catching up, and if they surpass us, who cares? They have like 5 times as many people as we do.
