No Soviets ever walked on the Moon. All the people who have walked on the Moon, so far, are Americans.

However, the Soviets did land some unmanned craft on the Moon. One even scooped up some lunar material and returned it to Earth.

To be more precise, the Soviets had some lunar missions and some major accomplishments in lunar exploration, including sending a probe around the moon and back to earth. Despite some limited success, due to technical failures the Soviets never stood on the moon.

Obviously not that serious. The soviets never sent anyone to the Moon, not even to orbit. They WERE the first to land (actually crash) a probe onto the surface of the Moon. But that's as close as they ever got.

Nope, no cosmonauts I'm afraid. They did have quite a few probes on the moon(20 missions actually), the most successful was in fact the first rover probes, Lunokhod-1(Nov. 10, 1970) and Lunokhod-2(Jan. 8, 1973), as well as sample return missions such as Luna-16(Sept. 11, 1970) and Luna-20 (Feb. 14, 1972).

As far as I know Americans are the only people who have sent men to the moon and back. Yuri gagarin was the first man in space.
