My eyes are not almond-shaped like those of most. Instead, I have rounded, deep-set eyes. Can anybody give me any tips on the best ways to apply my eyeliner without making my eyes look smaller and too close together, which is what typically happens when I apply it to the entire top and bottom lids?

I have the same issue as you when it comes to eye shape & stuff. What I've found best is NOT to use dark eyeliner (occasionally it's still ok to use black). Line the top all the way but only half the bottom (from the outside corner up to about where your pupil is). Another good trick I've found to work is to use shimmery eyeshadow (white or a pale silver is best) on the brow bone under my eyebrows & also on the inside corners of my eyes. It makes them appear bigger & brighter.

I saw this episode in Tyra that black eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller while white eyeliner makes your eyes look bigger. (Gosh, I never knew that. No wonder my eyes always looked small whenever I wear black and green eyeliners!)

Hmm... A technique you could try is instead of lining the entire rim of your eyes, stop when you're near the middle (nose bridge). It's kind of hard to explain. It's like lining a fourth of your eyes but instead of not totally lining the portion near the nose bridge, do it lighter as if there's nothing already so as not to draw attention to your eyes looking too close together.

Briefly, line your eyes from outer to in is dark to light, respectively. Don't be afraid to experiment and play with your eyes. Enjoy!

I use a black eye liner pencil from Cover Girl. First I put it on the bottom and then from top outer corner of my eye half way on top. Eyeshadow is the trick that makes my eyes appear bigger though. I put a lighter tan on the inside of my eyelid and then on the outer half put a darker shade. The darker shade that you used should also be put on the bottom of your eye (over the eyeliner) and then wet the tip of the brush with water and put it in your dark eyeshadow again and close your eyes and line the top of your eyes. I learned this from a makeover I won at Estee Lauder. Hope it helps!!

Don't use dark eye-liner. Silvery or light-colored eyeliner widens eyes, especially when applied to the upper lid. In my experience, nothing widens eyes like silver eyeshadow. I love to use it after a bad night's sleep or when I don't feel well. It really brightens up my eyes.

you can put eyeliner on both top and bottom but make sure you only put the eyeliner on half your eye in the bottom because if you put it all the way in the bottom....it will make your eyes look smaller

hope it helps

Only apply it to the top lids. This will stop your eyes looking small.
